Your Ceremony . . . The Centerpiece of Your Celebration

Your Ceremony . . . The Centerpiece of Your Celebration
November 7, 2017

Although your wedding day is filled with significant moments, the ceremony is the centerpiece of the entire celebration. It's the reason everyone has joined together, and it's more than just a formality. Whether you're having a religious or secular service, your ceremony is your chance to express who you are as a couple; you can personalize your readings, add rituals that have significance for you, or even infuse your love story throughout the service.

Something different and unique is a Ring Warming Ceremony. During a ring warming, the couple’s weddings rings are passed among their guests, or immediate family, who are asked to say a special wish or prayer over the rings while holding them. This intimate exchange brings all the loving thoughts of the couple's families and friends into the rings that the couple will be wearing for a lifetime. The ceremony brings an inclusive element to the ceremony and connects the couple with their loved ones in attendance.

You may also place a rose or photo on a chair to honor a close relative, who has passed away, or have a photo of a loved one as a charm on your bridal bouquet or boutonniere.

You may have relatives or friends close to you and want them to be more involved in your ceremony by giving them a favorite passage to read or ask them to write something special that they will read.

Many couples want their children included in the ceremony in some special way. We have family vows that can be read both by the parents and the children and a gift can be presented during this part of the ceremony. A Unity Candle or Unity Sand Ceremony is also an especially nice way to include the whole family in the ceremony.

As you can see there are many beautiful and heartfelt ways to make your ceremony special and meaningful to you as a couple.  There are no hard and fast rules any more. Talk with your officiate in writing a ceremony that you and your guests will remember all through your marriage as a very special time and one that will serve as a reminder of how fortunate and blessed you were to find and still be with your one true love.
