The Truth about Wedding Planners

The Truth about Wedding Planners
December 31, 2013

Wedding planners are like the movies (think Jennifer Lopez)

Sorry, but we are definitely not. As glamorous as it may look in the movies, event management is serious business. It requires a high degree of skills in organization, thinking outside the box, being a stickler of details, diplomacy, patience and communication skills, just to name a few. But we don’t mind because we love what we do– and it is so worth it when a happy bride, with tears in her eyes gives you a big hug at the end of the evening and says, “I couldn’t have done this without you”.

Wedding planners are expensive

Although this may be the case for some planners, Wedding Creations by Christina is very affordable. We don’t believe a couple should go into a mountain of debt to have the wedding of their dreams. We will actually save you money as we can suggest affordable alternatives and we work with trusted vendors that gives us great prices which we pass on to you, our clients.

A Wedding Planner will take over our Day

This is YOUR day and we would never want to take that away from you!  Our job is to take your vision and ideas and bring them to reality. We will work with you to handle as much or as little as you wish. An experienced planner/consultant will smooth the complex relationships found in planning a wedding today. We are there to help and guide you through this process which will lead to a beautiful and stress-free day.

Only the Rich and Famous Hire Wedding Planners

This is another common misconception. Couples who choose to hire a wedding planner for assistance come from all walks of life but they all have one thing in common – they simply don’t have enough times to do it all by themselves. It takes an average of 300 hours to plan a wedding. For most couples who work full time, it will involve spending all their spare time to researching vendors, checking review and references online, obtaining quotes, comparing prices . . . and that is just the start of the process. In the beginning this can be fun and exciting but can quickly become overwhelming and can ultimately put stress on your relationship.

Our venue already has a wedding coordinator

Having a dedicated contact at your venue and they will be a great resource in helping you with some of the aspects of your day, I have worked with some wonderful coordinators who have been an invaluable source of information. But keep in mind standards differ and they work for the venue- not you and will ultimately have the best interests of the venue in mind

How do we know which wedding planner is right for us

It is very important that you “click” with your wedding planner. There should be a connection and a feeling of trust and likeability with them. You will be working very closely with this person in the weeks and months leading to your big day, so look for chemistry. Of course you need to look at the way they conduct their business so you can be assured you are working with a competent professional (always check insurances & references). But, even with the best qualifications in the world, if you don’t click with your potential wedding planner and don’t feel at ease with them, keep looking. Most wedding planners offer complimentary first consultations, so go meet them, let your head guide you and your gut decide – there’s a perfect planner for everyone!
