Christina Mathews – Owner | Lead Planner
Thank you for stopping by. I am the petite (big) heart and soul behind A Beautiful Day by Christina. Although born in New England, I have a Southern Soul and have joyfully made NC my home for the past ten years. I have been so incredibly blessed to have worked with some of the sweetest people – my couples. I am so honored to have been entrusted with managing and coordinating the most important day of a couple’s lives. To me, it’s much more than planning a great party. Our job entails many roles. We act as your event manager, designer, coordinator and creative director. In addition, we are your sounding board throughout your entire event planning journey. I want to get to know my clients on a personal level and am honored to have been a part of so many amazing weddings.
In my free time I love spending time with my husband, Stephen. He is my best friend and constant source of encouragement. I truly could not be in this business without his love and support. We love to browse antique and consignments shoppes, go wine tasting and taking trips to the mountains. I also love to cross stitch.
My favorite part of the wedding day is definitely that moment right before the couple walks down the aisle when their eyes meet, and you feel the surge of emotion and excitement with them. I still cry during the first dances, and I hope I never stop feeling that emotion.
“It’s amazing how one day someone walks into your life, and you cannot remember how you ever lived without them.”

My love for planning weddings began with planning my own wedding with the love of my life, Devin, in 2014. Planning my own wedding was so much fun but being my own planner had its down sides as I was also the one doing final walkthroughs of the reception area and tucking things away 15 minutes before the ceremony. That is part of what inspired me to continue to work in wedding planning. Sorting out the details and infusing them with special touches so that you can relax and enjoy your special day brings me so much joy. I’ve seen personally how having a wedding planner changes the entire feel of the day. Over the years my involvement with weddings has grown to include not only planning but also floral design. I love partnering with couples to personalize their wedding day to make it their own unique celebration.
A little about me, Devin and I met as seniors in college and married a year after graduating. Our adventures have brought us to Pennsylvania, New York, and Maryland but we’ve been calling North Carolina home for the last 6 years. My background is in clinical social work. I made the transition out of the field when we welcomed our third little one into our family. I now homeschool our kids and run a small-scale flower farm in Clemmons.
My favorite part of a wedding is when the new couple shares a private moment after the ceremony before the reception starts to take in the day. To soak in not only all the planning, they put into the day finally coming to life but also the love they share that has started them on an incredible new adventure together.

I started event planning in college, though my mom would tell you I have been planning since I was quite young. I love the excitement of seeing an event come to life, from an idea on paper to a full day of celebration. My love of wedding planning was sparked when I began planning my own wedding and spent endless hours diving into all I could learn about the special occasion.
I grew up in North Carolina and have lived from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Sandhills and a few places in between. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Arts Entrepreneurship from North Carolina State University and a Master’s Degree in social work from Appalachian State University. My hobbies are couponing/clearance shopping and spending time with our three sweet pups.
My favorite part of a wedding is the small details that display the personality and bond of the special couple; the unique touches that bring magic to the day, give insight into what led the couple to fall in love, and tells their story.

I love to help create events of any kind, but I must say, weddings are my favorite. Events I have coordinated/planned include baby showers, bridal showers, graduation parties, gender reveal parties, weddings and many church events over the past ten years. When my eldest daughter married, I got the most enjoyment out of helping her create the wedding of her dreams. Her wedding inspired me to move forward with a dream of my own – helping other couples make the vision of their perfect day a reality. Each wedding is different and unique. I will work with couples on every detail so that it reflects the day they have envisioned. I want to get to know all my couples on a personal level, so they can relax and truly enjoy their day.
On a personal note, I have been married to my husband, Greg for 24 years and have two beautiful daughters, a son-in-law, and a brand-new granddaughter. We attend Cleveland First Baptist in Cleveland, NC where I am the music leader/coordinator, lead a young adult’s group and serve on various committees.
I look forward to working with you to make your day – truly a Beautiful Day!

For as long as I can recall from my earliest childhood days, I have been entranced and captivated by weddings and the love they represent. I have an extensive experience with decorating, designing, planning, coordinating and have been a DJ and Master of Ceremonies. I have worked in nearly every facet of weddings from beginning to end. To say weddings are “my thing” would be an understatement. I’ve always loved being a part of making someone’s special day the best it can possibly be.
On a personal note, I’m originally from Wisconsin but moved to NC in 2022 when I married my husband and best friend of five years, Alex. I love the adventures we share together with our little Jack Russell/Italian Greyhound mix puppy, Bosco. I love the mountains here, watching The Office with my husband and solving puzzles and the NY Times Crossword.
My favorite part of the wedding is undoubtedly seeing all the little details come together, that may seem random to anyone else but are very specific and important to each couple. Things that make you think “That’s so them!” I’ve always felt privileged to be a witness to this.

Event planning is one of my most favorite things to do! I enjoy bringing a couple’s visions to life and making people feel special and helping them realize their dreams. My experience with event planning began at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Winston-Salem when I was asked to coordinate the famous St. Paul’s Bazaar. Working with many others I learned to create an amazing experience that the whole community looked forward to! From there I became a Seminar Coordinator where I coordinate large seminars at 5-star hotel venues.
In the past, I hosted themed parties and designed and coordinated my own wedding. My wedding was such a beautiful, intimate and unique event that many friends began asking me to coordinate the weddings for their families. Now, as a part of the A Beautiful Day By Christina team, I am helping to make your day a very beautiful, intimate and unique experience!
On a personal note, I am originally from New Jersey and have made Winston-Salem my home for more than 30 years and raised two sons. I enjoy spending time with my long-time friends and taking trips to the beach with my dog, Syndey.
My favorite part of wedding planning is taking a step back on the special day and watching the expression of the happy couple as they see the awesome experience we helped to create and the happiness on the bride’s face when she sees her vision become a reality. It’s a wonderful feeling to make someone’s dream wedding come true.

For as far back as I can remember as a little girl growing up in the Pennsylvania countryside, I have absolutely loved everything to do with weddings. As a child, I would host weddings for my Barbies, in my early teens, I would watch every show I could find about weddings, and in high school, I started sketching bridalwear and job-shadowing in a bridal shop as part of my senior project. Then, at 18, I was asked to assist with my first real wedding. That was fifteen years ago and my passion for helping couples bring their wedding visions to life has never faded. I joined the team at A Beautiful Day by Christina in 2019 to help bring your wedding dreams to life!
I love to help create a vision for a special event and then bring it to life, taking care of all the details behind the scenes that allow those in attendance to just enjoy every aspect of the day. When it comes to weddings, I want my couples to just be able to be the bride and groom, soak in all the unforgettable moments of their day with all their friends and family and let me take care of the rest.
On a personal note, I have been married to my husband, Adam, since our own dream Christmas wedding in 2013. We have three little girls named Magnolia (“Maggie”), Tahlia, and Lillia Jane and a lovable Rat Terrier/Beagle/Bluetick Hound mix named Lucy. I serve on staff at Grace Bible Church in Winston-Salem as the Music & Media Coordinator, lead our praise team there, and enjoy a great cup of coffee, spending time with family and friends, and cooking/baking.
My favorite part a wedding is getting to be the first person to welcome the bride and groom into their new life when they walk back up the aisle to where I am usually waiting for them, a newly minted married couple. The joy on their faces is so fresh and their smiles couldn’t be wider that that moment. It is a unique and precious time.
